adrenaline junkies

Our safari in Kruger Park was awesome, but after 3-ish days of doing nothing but sit on our butts, my family and I were ready to kill each other. Tensions were running high and when we arrived in Port Elizabeth all anyone wanted to do was walk (ideally in opposite directions, but we had to settle for each other’s company).

My family enjoying a nice sea-side lunch in Port Elizabeth.

After a quick (and tasty) lunch, we followed a boardwalk path that wound in and out of the dunes. The Indian Ocean was so blue and the walk was exactly what we needed.

Not every part of the walk was stable... we walked over sand covered strips
as well as planks that had nearly been washed away!

We didn’t stay long in PE; on July 4 we drove west along the Garden Route looking for adventure. I’m happy to say that we found it at Tsitsikamma Falls!

We spent the morning zip-lining across a river/ waterfall just outside of Tsitsikamma National Park. It was a ton of fun and the perfect way to break the sitting-on-our-butts spell.

The best thing about zip-lining across the river was everyone had a great time. Our guides were fun, we were all in a joking mood and none of us impaled ourselves on the rocks.

Dad and Alex - actually having fun!

But careening through the air on zip-lines wasn't enough for my family and I, so after a quick lunch we made our way towards the Tsitsikama National Park. The weather was ominous... but that didn't stop us from hiking the Suspension Bridge Trail.

water and the bridge in the background.

In a way we "lucked out" with the weather because we saw some crazy waves!

It was a really cool hike, a cooler bridge and even cooler company. I think it is safe to say that this is turning into a typical action-packed Lamp Family vacation.
